Hey Y’all! Wow, 2 posts in one week! I know, I’m shocked too! So, I went to HPB twice this month because I got paid for babysitting and spent it on books…. As always.

HPB books

  1. Rules of Attraction By: Simone Elckeles (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/7137775-rules-of-attraction?ac=1)
  2. Alice in Zombieland By: Gena Showalter (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11300302-alice-in-zombieland?ac=1) I actually got this one for free! I was talking to this girl at the bookstore, when she asked what books I was looking for. I had a list, of course, and I showed it to her. She looked over it and said that she just sold Alice to HPB, but she could go get it back and give it to me, if I wanted. I was shocked, and said sure so she ran over to the desk and asked for her book back. It was so nice, and I was really happy for the rest of the night.

Ok, so the story behind this is that I went to a flip flop sale with my aunt at about 7 in the morning. By the time we were done at the sale, it was only 8. We knew that my mom and grandpa would still be asleep, so we were trying to figure out what to do in the meantime. My aunt suggested Ollies because she knew that they had cheap books, and wanted to see if there was any that I would want. I said that I didn’t really care where we went, just as long as I didn’t have to go home for a while. I had really low expectations for this place because I knew that it was a really cheap retail store. I figured that all of the books there would be really old, and I wouldn’t want any of them. So, we walked into the store and all I saw was an entire wall dedicated to YA books. I wasn’t able to make out any of the covers so, again, I figured that they were all crappy books. So I walked over to the wall, just so I could make my aunt happy, and that’s when I saw it. The glorious book that started my rampage of Ollies book buying: The Bane Chronicles. I ran over to it, picked it up and saw a price tag on the front that said $13. I knew that the book was usually about $20, so I thought that it was a really good steal. And then my aunt flipped the book over, pointed at a orange price tag, and said that this was the price. Do you want to know what the price was? $1.99!!! That’s right, a HC of a book written by the queen of YA, only ONE DOLLAR AND NIGHTY NINE CENTS!!! I am pretty sure that I almost pooped my pants when I saw it. And that is how this book buying thing at Ollies all got started.

    1. I would definitly let you borrow it, but it’s signed and I don’t really want to let it go. However, if there are any others that you want let me know and I’d be happy to let you borrow them! Thanks for commenting! 🙂

      1. Totally understandable that you don’t want to let it go, I wouldn’t either, but I sadly do not own signed books :/ I would love to borrow a few, that would be an expensive borrow, since I live in Germany 😉 but thanks for the offer. 🙂

      2. Yeah, I’m glad that you understand!! Yeah, i dont own a lot of signed books either. They don’t really have any signings where i live which sucks. I got SCT from the booksfortrade hashtag, and it was just a bonus when she said that it was signed!! Also dude, you live in GERMANY?!?! That’s so awesome!!!

      3. I’m German, so yeah, I live in Germany 😉 I’ve been to one signing so far and I do own a signed book (I just remembered lol), but I really wish like you that we would more signings. It’s also totally unfair that Americans can find signed copies in stores, because they are just there (at least I think it’s that way). I want some, too 😦 where do you live that they have no signings around you ?

      4. Thats so cool!!! Yeah, I’ve only been to one as well. Yeah, I live in Kentucky so, like, nobody ever comes to my state lol. The one signing that I have been to was a three hour drive from here. Yeah, I have only found one signed book in a store, but that also has to do with the fact that i only go to used bookstores lol. Yeah, it sucks. 😦
